Author Journey

The Journey Continues: Keep On Writing

Hello, all my fellow writers & readers!

It’s finally spring! I can’t tell you how much I have been looking forward to some warmer, sunnier weather. The winter had me singing the blues. Now that the sun is out and the birds are chirping, I got the spring fever bug!

March was a month of firsts and seconds in my writing life. Here is a quick recap for you and what my plans come April:

  1. I started my first beta read! I know it says in my Good Reads feed I have been reading Smoke and Summons by Charlie N. Holmberg which has been an amazing read! Honestly, I can’t wait to finish it BUT I wanted a chance to help out a fellow indie author and lend my eyes to her manuscript. This is a first for me and so far, I am loving the process. I plan on writing a blog about my experience once I am done reading her manuscript to give you a full scope on the experience.
  2. I got my manuscript back from my editor and have been slowly plugging away at it. It’s been difficult to focus SO that is where Camp Nanowrimo. I plan on using the month of April to finish going through the suggestions and fixes my editor has left for me and then start looking for people to beta read for me (takes a deep breath). Seriously, beta reading MY manuscript scares the pants off of me.
  3. I wrote another short story for #asunshinestory prompt I did with the amazing Darby Cupid. It’s not complete yet and I doubt I will actually finish it before I give my manuscript a final once over, but it was so much fun to create another story in a genre I hardly ever write in. On that note, if you haven’t checked out my other short story, Sins of the Flesh, it’s up on Wattpad for your enjoyment! It’s definitely not for the faint at heart so be warned.

What are your writing goals for April 2019?

If you’re participating in Camp Nanowrimo, I’d love to connect with you there! You can find me under my name D. Allyson Howlett. Let’s support each other on our writing journies together!
